Food Review: 11 Central Lights Up Downtown Bangor

11 central bangor, maine

11/03/12 - We were able to get a seat last night at the highly coveted 11 Central in downtown Bangor. I know it's a bit cliche to say this when a new restaurant opens, but 11 Central is exactly what downtown Bangor needed. It makes a sleepy town of 32,000 feel more like a metropolitan cultural center. They serve food till midnight and its got huge windows that look out on Central Street so you can watch the hustle and bustle of downtown as you nibble on your bruschetta or sip a martini. We suggest the lobster pizza or scallop carbonara. Our favorite drink is the "Thigh Sweats" made with apricot brandy and egg whites. It's a bit on the pricy side, but that is the only negative we could come up with. Overall, we give 11 Central an A-.

Food Review: Bangor Food Truck "Street Bistro" Tastes Damn Good

street bistro bangor

10/25/12 - We had the chance to order some food from the Street Bistro food truck (they also deliver) on the Bangor Waterfront a few days ago and it was so good we figured we'd post about it. Pictured above is a photo the owner took of their coveted "lobster corn dog" (amazing), but I'm not going to write about it (everyone knows lobster is good). Instead, I wanted to mention their crispy brown truffle oil tater tots covered in feta cheese. Those were by far my favorite. Find them on Facebook and go try some for yourself! Overall, we give Street Bistro an A-.

Strip Club Review: Diamonds In Bangor, Maine

diamonds strip club bangor maine

04/20/12 - So, happened to wander into Diamonds strip club in Bangor, Maine for a friends birthday party the other night and, believe it or not, we had a blast. A blast you say? Yes, an all around damn good time. Honestly. I know. I know. I was expecting a hole in the wall dive bar as well. I mean, you just don't think high quality strip club when you picture Bangor, Maine, but I gotta give it to these guys. They made a pretty decent venue. Three girls dancing at any given moment. Huge seating area. Tons of hot drink girls and fair prices.

I've been to strip clubs in Amsterdam, Montreal, LA, New York, Vegas, etc, etc. I've pretty much seen them all and I have to say that Diamiond's held its own. Not only are the girls hot, but they put on a show as if they were on Broadway. One dancer started out her set dressed as Iron Man, full suit and all. Also, it's not the same old locals over and over again. They import new girls from Boston, New York and Canada every weekend. That's not to say the locals aren't hot. They're pretty damn great too. Overall, we give our experience at Diamond's strip club in Bangor, Maine an A-.

It would have been an A, but we hate the fact that the city of Bangor makes their strippers cover their nipples with pasties. Honestly Bangor, get with the times. France airs topless yogurt commercials that a child could see at one in the afternoon, but a bunch of consenting adults aren't allowed to see a strippers nipples in a private club? That makes about as much sense as prohibition.

Travel Review: Greyhound Bus

greyhound bus maine

04/19/12 - So, we just recently took a Greyhound Bus from Boston to Bangor. The ride itself was great. Comfortable seats, air conditioned, clean, etc. However, we did have one bone of contention. They no longer drop you off in downtown Bangor? They have moved their terminal to a Dysarts in Hermon. It's an additional $15 cab ride to get into downtown Bangor. Not only did the bus driver fail to mention this to us before we left, but even as of today's date their website still lists Bangor as their final destination. Pretty sure that constitutes false advertising. Not cool. We were definitely not pleased and will be taking our business to Concord Trailways from now on. Overall, we give our Greyhound experience a C-.
