Bob Duchesne

05/19/14 - In September 2003, Bob Duchesne retired (temporarily) from a 31-year career in radio. Beginning in 1986, Bob became a familiar voice to radio listeners across eastern and central Maine on Q-106.5. His morning show was top rated for most of 17 years. The Country Music Association tapped him as Broadcast Personality of the Year in 1994, and he was inducted into the Country DJ Hall of Fame in Nashville on March 2nd, 2004.

During his radio career, Bob was an active leader among charity and public service organizations in the Bangor area, including stints as president of Downeast Big Brothers/ Big Sisters, Maine Audubon, and the Maine Association of Broadcasters. Bob also served on several economic and business development boards.

Upon his departure from radio, Bob won a seat in the Maine House of Representatives and served four terms from 2005-2012 before exiting due to term limits. His experience in both business development and environmental protection led to a seat on the Natural Resources Committee, which he later chaired. In recent years, Bob started a guiding company, and later began writing a weekly birding column in the Bangor Daily News. In February, 2013, a new radio show debuted on Sports Radio 929 The Ticket, called “Bob Duchesne’s Wild Maine,” airing Saturday mornings at 9am.

Bob holds a degree in Government from Colby College and a Masters in Business Administration from the University of Maine.

Bob lives with his wife, Sandi, on Pushaw Lake in Hudson.
